Loved by parents, students and staff alike, Rebekah is a mother of three kids and a west Auckland local who knows everything there is to know about our school. She’s here to support you through the process, answer your questions and make your child’s transition to ACG Sunderland as easy and seamless as possible.
What can people expect when they enquire at ACG Sunderland?
You can expect to discuss your child’s enrolment or learning development with a knowledgeable and friendly staff member who shares a common goal with you – genuinely wanting to achieve the best educational outcomes for your child.
What does the enrolment process involve?
You can pop in to the school to see us at any time if you’d like to enquire. When it comes to enrolling, you can submit initial enrolment applications online, by post or in person. We really appreciate it if you can submit all supporting documents at the time of your initial application, so we have a full picture of who your child is.
Once all the documents are received, I’ll contact you to arrange an enrolment interview with our Principal Nathan Villars. The interview is a great chance for you to get to know Mr Villars and find out as much as you can about the school, and for us to learn about your child and their learning needs.
Following the interview, we will usually give you a letter of offer immediately.
My job is to support each family throughout the whole process; from the initial enquiry to checking in with parents to see how their child is settling in to school life.
What sort of questions do parents have?
Parent questions cover the whole spectrum. How will my child’s learning disability be supported? What processes do you have in place to deal with bullying? If my child excels in a particular subject, is there extension work given? Can my child complete Cambridge when coming from NCEA? Is Cambridge only for really intelligent or gifted children? [It’s not!] Is Cambridge very hard?
What do you most enjoy about the role?
The people of course. You get to assist parents and students in making meaningful decisions about their education and future goals.
In your view, what is the best thing about ACG Sunderland?
Over the years I have come to understand and appreciate the Cambridge International curriculum much more; for me it is one of ACG Sunderland’s best assets.
What advice would you give parents looking for a school for their child?
Let your decision be based on your own experiences. While close families and friends can be excellent advocates for a school, my experience is the parents that are the happiest with their child’s transition and schooling participated fully in all the information sessions and took advantage of programmes like Student for a Day.
Being informed is integral.
