Over the next few weeks, there will be a host of bright and excited little faces at ACG Sunderland with the opening of our new Early Learning School (ELS).

Due to unprecedented growth and steadily increasing demand, our current ELS will soon be moving to its new home in a beautiful Reggio Emilia inspired facility. This custom-designed preschool, which has been carefully planned to enhance learning opportunities for all children, has an array of indoor and outdoor zones for eager young learners to explore. So as our preschoolers continue to thrive in the warm, welcoming and nurturing atmosphere that parents love, they can also make the most of these unique and dynamic educational spaces.

The new centre has three main indoor areas divided into:

  • An infant room (3 months to 2 years). Catering to a maximum of 10 children, our infants have access to their own outdoor spaces, encouraging free movement and exploration.
  • A toddler room (for ages 2 to 3½ years). Perfect for energetic exploration or quiet relaxation, we choose to staff our toddler room above required Ministry of Education ratios.
  • A preschool room (for ages 3½ to 5 years). A combined room where the foundations for school readiness and lifelong learning are at the forefront.

Along with an exceptional outdoor fun zone featuring a custom-made Creo playground with slides, climbing equipment, two sandpits and a bike track.

Principal Nathan Villars couldn't be more thrilled with the development.

"We are so very pleased our purpose-built ELS is almost complete," says Principal Villars. "It combines state of the art thinking with big open spaces to create an airy and light feeling. Moreover, it offers amazing playground facilities for our children to explore, which have been enriched by the thoughtful inclusion of existing mature trees."

"The new centre is located near the front of the school which means easy access and great parking for busy parents. But still ensures the ELS children can continue to use the campus grounds, library and gymnasium."

Already well integrated into the existing ACG Sunderland school curriculum, the highly anticipated ELS will continue to offer a structured learning environment that encourages free play combined with mat time and early literacy and numeracy programmes. This approach has proven to be extremely popular with our ACG families, and with the ELS soon to be licenced for 70 children, it will allow the centre to meet the current waitlist and growing need for enrolment places.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family to see this amazing new facility for yourself!
